View Full Version : Coat Colours
I think we all find the different colours fascinating and we all have our favourites Im sure. We all know that each colour has a multitude of different varieties and there are no two Lhasas that have the same shade. Look at my Bruce, he has many colours running through his coat. What are your thoughts about coat colour and what is your preference.

Well, I must say I love each and every Lhasa in their own little way! :D I have noticed there dont seem to be many white ones like Diesel though...apparently his daddy was ginger (or gold I think it should be called) and Diesel was the first white one ever to come from that breeder...and she has only had one white one since.
Diesel has got gingery streaks in his tail...
I would love him if he was pink with green spots though!!! :D :D :D

I love them all but especially gold/white particolours or darker gold/red, infact any shade of gold! Black is lovely too although I wasn't looking for a black when I got Ebony, but as soon as I saw her I just couuldn't resist her! Everyone probably knows this already but if a black Lhasa has blue skin then they will keep their colour and not fade. Ebony has blue skin and so far she's still very black, well apart from her white bits, hehe  xxx

I can honestly say that Raven has been whiter than white since the first time I saw her. Her mum was blonde with ginger ears and her dad was grey/blue. The best thing anyone asked me (and when I say best I nearly chewed the woman's face off) was "Is that a cross between a yorkshire terrier and a shih tzu?". I was dumbfounded. She's all white and a very typical lhasa. What's worse is that the woman is a dog breeder and shows collies. You really don't need to know my response (in case kids are reading!). The woman ad been really arrogant towards some of my friends and had been really derogatory about their dogs and how tey trained them. She should never have started on me.
But honestly, I'm not usally like that. I think I had a hard week and after I nicely explained that she was a very lovely lhasa apso, she then said all lhasas were just hairy rats. Oh god, luckily my friends can see an explosion coming a mile off and I smiled and left the woman's vicinity!

I should say, for those who haven't seen raven's photo (i'll need to post one) that she does have dark tips to her ears and a dark racoon face mask (but the face mask has dissapeared now). The rest of her is pure white. She did have a wee black spot at the base of her tail when she was a pup, but the white from her tail covers it now. I'll maybe add some pics of raven when she was a pup.
If any of you go on to the midland lhasa apso club website, go to the yearbook pics and click on kenworth. It the past (Raven's gran or great gran), the present (Raven's dad and Raven's half brother) and Raven is the puppy labelled "the future" (excuse the mess in the back ground as we were moving house when the photo was taken!).

I was at Northumberland county show last week and was sitting beside my beardie friends an old man and woman came over looked at Shadow on the grooming table then down at a beardie puppy on the floor he was only 9 months old anyway the old man said "Ah that one on the table is a baby beardie" How funny everyone around had to keep their smiles in. I was also asked if he was a Chow!!!!

Mmmm funny how a dog can be crossed so many times but just one trait/type will come through more than the others - probably more Lhasa/Shih Tzu coming through being the stronger genes rather than the JR being crossed with just one of either the Lhasa or the Shiddy xx
