I just do half an hour at a time, but every day, to keep the matts at bay! (Ooh I'm a poet!! :D ) Bathing and a proper groom through with a bit of trimming, if necessary, takes me a couple of hours. Am supposed to be bathing Ebony this afternoon xxx

Yes I forgot to mention that I also brush everyday to keep any tangles at bay and even still, there are always tangles to tackle even by doing this.

Diesel is in short coat, so its just a top and tail affair!!! And then bathing most Sundays, about an hour start to finish...and any mess in between ...well, he's a good lad and cleans himself nicely!!!

It takes me about an hour and a half all in to get Raven brushed, bathed and dried for a show and if she doesn't have a show probably about an hour becuase then i don't get too fussy about drying her hair straight and I just blast it.
After getting advice from loads and loads of people, I no longer brush or comb raven every day. I've promised countless people I'll leave her alone as brushing and combing her everyday since she was about 4 months old has meant I've stripped out a lot of her undercoat  . She now looks a complete riot everyday but her coat is looking great once i've bathed her.
Wicket takes a while to get ready because he hates the bath. He can actually jump out of the bath without touching the sides so a lot of the time is spent catching him and putting him back in!!! It probably takes me about an hour and a half just to bath him then we have the pandamonium of trying to dry him! He's a wee rascal. I think he tinks its a game!!! I usually send him for a proffesional groom every 12 weeks or so but he's not been done now since january and his matts are terrible. I'll need to get him booked in asap!!!

Mmmm I know what you mean about taking out too much hair Kim. Ive been quite lucky really because I was the opposite when my 3 were younger but as they grew older, the coat seemed more difficult to do as in the matts so this is why I give them a quick brush everyday and use the comb every two days. There is some amount of coat that comes out but not alot really as I was taught how to detangle the matts (although takes time) without damaging the coat. Sounds like you have fun and games at bathtimes with Wicket

I was never getting any matts, I was just told (by a "professional" groomer) to COMB her EVERY day. Ruined her coat so I have! There was only every a little coming out, but a little every day soon adds up. I was combing her daily til the lhasa club of scotland show when I was told it should be a brush and only once or twice a week! I'm a clown!

as i said i bathed and gave miss emerald a right good groom, not so much as a tiny sniggle in her coat, so i wont touch her again for a good 4-5 days, well apart from to pick off bits of grass, leaves etc and to re do her bands (or dirty arse  you get my drift) but that should be it, and if her coat is fine come then with no miss haps, ill give her a sprits of spray and a quick brush then come day 6-7 maybe day 8 (depending on work) she'll get another bath.
this is the same for saphire and as flynn is still the pup he is left an extra day or 2, blue gets bathed roughly every 2 weeks but then he doesnt get shown any more and has a shorter coat xxx
