As you all may have read.. Lulu went to the groomer this week and was cut quite short...shorter than i would have liked.. she was quite unmatted all over except her back legs and around her behind. This occured when she was in season and because i love her so much ,didn't like to pull her about. (she is quite unwell during her season, a very different little girl, the husband worried sick about her she is sooo unwell , I can't wait till she is spayed in september actually). I can see the groomer's point of view, (although i wouldn't have minded a skinny legged lhasa ) I don't suppose it would have done her grooming buisness a world of good to have had a little girl with a lovely long coat with chicken legs!!!!! so i forgive her,now.. have calmed down., but have to say Lulu's coat is quite hard to manage and i do find it hard to pull her about, although will try my best to keep her matt free, but it is the hardest part of having a lhasa for me the grooming side., infact to go as far to say the only minus in having one of our lovely breed.., she only has to have a minuate scratching herself for loads of knotts to appear!!!xx

oh hunny im the same, if the dogs decide to have a wee scratch then viola a knott apears, i thought i was the only one with this, but as soon as i spot one i try to brush it out then and there (sometimes i dont always have the time) but as soon as i do then i brush it out xx

Ah, thanks for that pamela.. this seems to be the thing we don't accept, we are not all perfect and our beloved little one's do get matted, just nobody seems to say this, and makes us feel bad!! I love Lulu so much and spend so much time with her, and feel bad when i am completely at a loss with her coat, and as i said love her so much don't want to pull her about, when she clearly wants to be left alone, not brushed and pulled about., what do you do???.xx

Hiya Maggie's coat is terrible for mats I use 'matt out' by a company called davis it really works on maggie although I have just had her completely balded!! phew much much better!!! lol I do like her in full coat but as I don't show her I find it VERY hard work she only has to roll and she's tangled and knotted!! When I bought her I wasn't told how much work the coat took!!

A good breeder,
will always advise of the amount of time and work
involved in keeping a lhasa's coat.

Some breeders will even demonstrate the best methods,
& equipment to use.

Also I would have thought,
then when deciding on this breed that does & can have long hair
that some research would have been done.

So that you knew exactly what you were getting involved in!!!

Even keeping your lhasa in a teddy clip,
requires maintenance.
