All types of Gum disease begins with the formation of plaque,
which is a sticky film on the teeth and gums.

This sticky film is bacteria that forms within the mouth on the gums.

The sticky film is the start of plaque.

The plaque starts to harden up,
which turns in to tartar.

It is the tartar which causes the damage to the teeth and gums.

The tartar causes the gums to become red and swollen.

Red and Swollen gums are known as gingivitis

If you notice that your apsos gum are red and swollen,
do not leave,
but treat.

If you leave untreated,
gingivitis will lead to gum and periodontal disease.

It is a roll on effect,
this can then lead to infections of the bones that hold your apsos teeth in place.

This could result in loss of bone,
which in turn will and can cause the teeth to fall out.

Apso's that are three years and older have an 85% chance of getting some form of gum disease.

Take steps now to help prevent this from happening:

This is one of the reasons I bought the plaque off - prevention is better than cure as they say. Their teeth are in pretty good shape and I intend to keep them this way. Thanks for the advice. xx
