If you have a pet with epilepsy, these are some of the key points for you to remember. They are discussed in more detail elsewhere:

Don't change or discontinue medication without consulting your veterinarian.
See your veterinarian at least once a year for follow-up visits.
If your pet has a seizure longer than 5-10 minutes or 3 seizures in a day, seek veterinary care immediately.
Remember, live with epilepsy not for epilepsy. With appropriate treatment, most dogs have far more good days than bad ones. Enjoy all those good days! Enjoy your life and your pet. They have a serious disease, but don't let that keep you from enjoying the time you have with them.

This is so true. Look at what I went through with hobo last fall. He is doing so well now. I try not stress him that much and keep him calm most of the time. He's been off his medication sense late Dec07. I see some pacing from time to time but so far he is doing great. Not sure if its the food we now feed or what but what ever it is we are not messing with it.
I don't give him his shots but do a titer and keep him toxin free as much as we can. I now keep all the dogs as toxin free as we can. We don't give them anything with added colors, wheat, corn or soy.

That sounds really sensible Bridget. I think a lot can be said for a toxin free diet I have come across quite a lot about it online recently actually xx
