Start with a recommendation from a friend, veterinarian, boarding kennel, dog trainer, pet store, or animal shelter. Check the Yellow Pages under "Pet Grooming." You can also search online
Before selecting a groomer, tour the facility. Here are some factors to consider during your evaluation:
Is the facility well-lit?
Does it look and smell clean?
Does the staff appear knowledgeable and caring? Do they handle pets gently?
Are cages adequately sized? Are dogs and cats caged in separate areas?
Are pets monitored regularly to prevent overheating during blow-drying?
Does the groomer keep complete pet records (including grooming, medical, vaccination, and emergency contact information)?
Dont be afraid to ask questions!
Dont forget to tell them any health problems or special requirements your Lhasa may have.
Mmmm I did all this in the early days to end up still disappointed but this was me only - not saying that this happens to everyone - hence now I do the grooming myself.
Kennels - I did the same to come away feeling very disheartened - hence Maxine looks after them should we need a break but on saying this, there is one that I would consider and this is at My Pet Stop, Tingley, near Leeds. These are 5* doggie bungalows, double glazed, heating, air con if needed, Tv, Music, designer beds, walked at least 4 times a day and owner specifies 'road walk' or free roam (all secured off in huge grounds), fed to the required times and 'checked off' at various times of the day by the staff and then countersigned. Also if requested, your pooch is groomed at an extra cost and there is a Lhasa Specialist groomer to hand and a resident vet. They said it would cost £30 per day for all three of mine so I think this is pretty good.
I have not used them yet but its the only one that I would consider as a near perfect stand-by and its extremely clean and is disinfected and cleaned out every day.

I agree Pamela, and when people ask me where Diesel is done I always pass on his groomer's number cos I know 110% I would trust her with Diesel. She also has a boarding facility for dogs she knows, and that too is handy for me to know in case of emergency xx

yup if i ever needed a groomer, kennel etc id only go to someone who a trusted friend had suggested, but i dont need these as i groom the pooches myself and always have family or a couple of very good friends who can watch my pooches for me, so theyre never really left by themselves for any length of time xx
