We should all have an emergency kit ready for the unknown. Some good things to have at the ready are...................

Tweezers, Surgical Tape, Antiseptic Cream, Baby Powder, Poo Bags, Vaseline, Glucose Powder, Wormers, De-Flea pippets, Eye Ointment, Styptic Powder/gel, Thornit and Paracetamol (yes Paracetamol - safe to give for pain relief).

I always carry with me in my 'bum bag' tweezers, styptic gel sticks, Baby Powder (small one), Tissues just incase. Fresh water in the car and a spare pin brush for when they all get a bit clogged up with debris from the moors.

Anything that I may have missed?

Does anyone have thermometers for their lhasas? I was thinking of getting a ear thermometer, but my vet says the ear one might not work very well as our dogs may have hairs in their ear canals that interfere with the reading. He recommended that I get a rectal one. Oooh I can't imagine sticking that in my Coco!!! But then if we suspect she's running a fever, we would want to check her temperature ....

Hi Lydia

Yes a rectal one would actually be the best and will give a more definite and positive reading. I did'nt have one but do now in readiness for Lexi xxxxxxx

This is probably the worst thing I've ever said about my boy ... he loves getting a thermometer up his ass! He loves it. He sees the vet coming with it and he just stands there as if to say go ahead!!! (Although that could be pleeeease go ahead and get this over and done with quickly!). He's never so much as girned at the vet for it.
