Remember your pooper scooper and/or doggy bags for their mess
Always check your collar and lead are safely attached...some parts can wear thin from time to time so its worth checking!
Check dogs are allowed where you plan to walk...beaches for example have restrictions at certain times of the year
Remember to have an ID tag on your dogs collar...even if it is microchipped...or you will still end up paying for the return of your dog
Always remember water for your dog...especially in hot weather
Sun cream in the summer is also a good idea
Emergency first aid items are a good idea if you're on a long walk
Remember to take time to rest if it is a long walk...and in the shade if its hot
Be considerate at all times, especially to those without a dog...not everyone loves them as we do! :(
Remember your personal safety at all times too!! :D
And most of all...have fun!!

MORE TIPS AND IDEAS............
You’re in charge. Controlling your dog is essential for all concerned. Start out early, training your puppy to walk with a buckle collar and non-retractable leather leash.
Use cheerful commands and treats to get him started. If he strays, call to him and steer him in the right direction. If he pulls, change direction and encourage him to follow. Be gentle--never yank a young puppy by his leash.
Take it easy.... Just because you want to run a marathon doesn’t mean your dog should.
Consider your dog’s size, age and condition when you exercise. A healthy dog can walk for miles, but remember your stride is longer than theirs. Some dogs like to run but others just want to lumber along. Let them. If you want to jog with your dog, make sure he’s big enough and fit enough to keep up (and vice versa). And check your dog’s paws for wear and tear at the end of each walk.

TIPS FOR WALKING ME
1. Walk me often.
2. More often than is physically possible.
3. Take a friend for me to play with.
4. Let me run through mud when I want ... remember I used to be phobic about that so be grateful I have combatted my fears.
5. Let me go over the common and smell all the other animals and pooh.
6. Let me go anywhere I want and I will come back whenever I see fit.
7. Even if its raining/ blowing a gale/snowing.
8. Forget the cheerful commands Im not listening anyway.
9. Same goes for treats they are a waste of time.
10. As for other dog walkers, I will cock my leg on them too.
Thanks, love Diesel xxx

Well tonight Diesel made friends with two little ... wait for it... Pug/Shih Tzu crosses!!!
Amazing...one had Pugtastic features and a swishy tail, and the other had Shih Tzu features but Puggy tail and body!!!
But, they were really sweet and clearly loved Diesel, who joined in with their play and was proper jumping everywhere with them!! Missy (the Belgian Shepherd) was a bit miffed cos they all wanted to play and not let her join in!!!
When it was time to walk on, Diesel went and joined their family and was walking off into the distance and looking back smiling at me with his tongue hanging out!!! Cheeky boy!!
