Hi folks.

My little girl had a split first season. She has a mini season for about 2 days when she was only 15 weeks old and then she had a full proper season when she was 8 months. The problem that she's got is she seems to be irresistible to dogs all the time! Even before she had her first proper season, dogs are always trying to mount her. It's a constant problem. When we got to our ring craft class, all the dogs are small so everyone lets their dog off the lead to run around a socialise but all the males just line up to try and get on her back. The owners think it's funny but I don't. She invariably ends up sitting down between my legs so that I can protect her. One of these days I think she might lash out at one of the other dogs. She recently started barking at them to tell them to get away but some of the cocky ones (usally poms!) just keep trying her patience.

Has anyone got any idea what I can do to stop this? Bitch spray doesn't work. She is bathed weekly and that doesn't help. I think she must just smell really nice but if she does go for another dog as a warning, no doubt I'll be kicked out the class.

Help!

awwww peer wee raven, fit a shame. i would seriously hae a word wee the person who runs the training class, and let them kane that es is bothering you and deffinetly wee raven, she's just a baby after all, and the constant attention from all these dogs could well put her off (if you ever decide to mate from her in the future) she may just not allow the deeds to be done and god forbid she may turn on a dog if she comes to breaking point, ask the trainer of the class if they can perhaps have the dogs take turns in having a free run (dogs only then girls only) this way when the dogs have a free run you can pick raven up out the way, or else ask if the dog/s in question that dont answer there owners or who wont leave raven alone be kept on theyre leads (they could use extending leads, or extra length leads)
i would say something to the trainer thou, cos all dogs (and owners) who attend classes should feel safe that there dogs and themselves are free from unruly dogs (or from other owners hehehehehheehehe) xx

mounting is also a sign of dominance. so it could be just the dogs trying to set the order of the class.

:D :D Yes I agree with this one. Honey has been spade and she has been mounting Bruce for some time now -she can't do anything ;) ;) but off she goes on one when it suits her fancy   and as for Bruce, he looks round to the side as if to say "what do you think your'e doing" and makes this funny little grunt     so yes, it has to be the dominance thing in this case xx
