This area is for discussions on how you feel about putting two pure breeds together,
to make a pedigree cross,
along with other issues that arise with crossing to pure breeds.

If you are a breeder or exhibitor,
how do you feel,
when you see that the market is being flooded by two different pure breeds
being crossed to produce a pedigree mongrel?

The pedigree first cross's can and do make the same price as those of pure breeds.

I do not know what people are thinking when they deliberately produce litters this way.

Is this society,
do we dictate that we want these designer dogs.

Is this due to celebrities & their designer pets.

Are things taken into account things like:-

Health Issues:-
As each and every breed has it is own health issues.

Introducing new health problems:
By crossing the pure breeds,
surely man will be introducing more health problems.

Due to the glamour scene and society have we not caused enough damage to each and every breed?

Should we not be striving for the breed to be as they were intended to be,
as they were when they originated.

Is that not what made us fall in love with the breeds in the first place.

I completely agree with you. I can remember a few silly names coming out of the states a few years back. Cocker Spaniel x Poodle = CockerPoo, Yorkshire Terrier x Poodle = Yorkie Poo etc.
When we were looking for Coco, we couldn't believe how much money some cross breeds were fetching, in some cases it was more than a pedigree of either parent would normally be and what can be done with these expensive mongrels ? They can't be shown or bred and then there's the health issues, do these 'breeders' have any idea what problems they could be creating and do they even care ?
Totally irresponsible !
