I am thinking of getting wicket fixed. I don't intend breeding off of him and it would be easier since Raven is around to get him sorted. When I broached this subject with chris ... lets just say he crossed his legs, picked up wicket and held him in the "you're not touching my boy" kinda way. I've talked about it with a few folk and all the men seem to look at it the same way. Once Raven has finished showing then I'll get her fixed too so that she doesn't have to go through her seasons anymore and so that her risks of things such as pyometra are gone. I have no problem with that. I don't hold my womb and go "ooh you can't do that"!
What is it with men and getting a dog fixed? When we discuss it he always says ... just get Raven fixed instead and I have to keep explaining that you can't show a fixed lhasa.
Grrr.
    hilarious     Well I suppose its a delicate part of a 'boy/man"   but do they ever stop and wonder what its like for a "girl/woman" .......I bet not     I had to laugh at this one - this has tickled my fancy for fun

Well, Stewart was EXACTLY the same with Diesel...."Oi, leave his three-piece-suite alone" etc...... but I had NO intention of breeding from him, and the decision was made for me the day he snapped at the little toddler. I went straight to the vets crying, and I knew damn well if he HAD have bitten Boe I could have been sat in the vets for a much more sinister reason...So he was done the next morning.
On the plus side...since being done, Diesel has calmed down SOOOOOOOOO much,,,as with getting his hair cut, grooming, bathing,,,all the things that used to make him go ballistic...And, of course, now he can be let off his lead...
Also, Diesel has got a FAR better appetite, and has maintained a good weight too.
In my experience, it was 110% the right decision for Diesel.
He did, however, have a LOT of complications with his op. It was discovered that day that he also had a urine infection...so obviously he was under the weather and thats prob why he snapped...and they also found retained baby teeth, so they got removed too.
So, he was quite poorly for three weeks after (and managed to bite open his stitches on day 5 when I took the lampshade collar off to wash it - eeeurgh!!!) and also he got quite depressed.
But, in the bigger scale of things, I am SO glad he was done xxx
Yes Im glad I had Bruce castrated too. Although he is still very cheeky, it has calmed his boisterousness down and is not as hyper. He's still very active though but not as 'bull headed'. Bruce had to wear the 'collar' as he was always trying to lick his stitches (whereas Honey did'nt) and he looked so fed up for those days that he had it on - bumping into everything - I found it comical on one hand but felt sad for him on the other as his eyes were so appealing and the way he looked at me made me feel guilty for subjecting him to wearing this contraption. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hahahaha, I know what you mean although my husband and I have not owned a boy dog for years but that's through choice.
My hubby had vasectomy over 12 years ago and he cringes whenever someone mentions messing down there being as he had a funny experience when he had his op done under general anaesthetic.
3 years ago he decided it would be easier to have the reversal (when we decided we wanted children) and he had to be knocked out that time otherwise I'm sure he wouldn't have had that done hehehe.
So I can understand why they cringe but I can undertand why we don't cringe too hehehe
