INTRODUCING......GUCCI!!!

OK everybody, my decision has been made...I am indeed having Diesel's little nephew come live as part of our family!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D
I fell in love the minute I saw him, and Ive given it two weeks of thought.
So, here he is!!!
Xiola has decided on the name "Gucci" for him! :D :D :D :D :D

He has met Diesel...all went well though he spooked Diesel out a bit when he squeaked and wagged his tail!!! :shock:
I am gonna be very careful in the early days.....make sure they sleep separately...eat separately etc so Diesel doesnt feel he is a threat. I will allow Diesel free run of the house as usual while I am at work, and section Gucci into the outhouse, which is a large area which has a stair gate on...its where Diesel usually goes if we have small children visiting. I have told the kids they must take Diesel for extra walks in the early days, so he gets a bit extra spoilt, and while Diesel is out I will bond with Gucci...I dont want Diesel to feel pushed out in any way at all. Im sure if we are all sensible it should settle down soon enough.
Im amazed Im even in a position to consider a puppy...if you'd have asked me 6 months ago I would have said "no way"...but Diesel has come so far and is so much more trusting of me, bless his little heart. He knows I love him dearly, and you all know I would never in a million years jeopardise that. I feel Diesel is ready for it and so are we......
And its strange how fate has worked, and Gucci is looking for a home......and he is Diesels little nephew too!!! :D
I hope he learns to love and grow and become the adorable little boy that Diesel has become. I hope Diesel shows him the way.

Well, I spoke to the breeder today, and she says he is well socialised and ready to go whenever I want him...but with going to West Bay tomorrow it wont be til after the weekend...I am well excited...popped into Argos tonight and bought him a furry bed...lol lol he wont be able to climb stairs so he wont know about the big double bed Diesel calls his own!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D Im gonna let the kids choose his food bowls and stuff...keep them included...cor when I got Diesel I went to Pats At Home with my brother and we bought EVERYTHING from scratch in one hit......bed, blankets, collar, lead, toys, bowls, brushes etc...it cost a flippin fortune but bless my brother he chipped in and helped me out!! :D :D Have you any tips for introducing him into the family without upsetting Deez too much?

when i took flynn hame he was in a crate to begin with so my dogs could have a look and a sniff before actually getting up close to him, i then introduced flynn to them one at a time going from the oldest to youngest (blue 1st, callan, miss emerald then saphire last) that was it for the first night as i didnt want to overwhelm flynn with so much new things all at once, then the next day i did exactly the same again but then i let flynn down on the floor and they got to have a good sniff, i never let them out of my sight during the intoduction period and over 3, 4 days they all settled with each other, callan and miss emerald really took to flynn as they are both the protectors of the "pack" callan is like a bouncer and keeps everyone safe and emerald is the mother
im sure if you introduce them to each other slowly they'll be fine, and id mention to the kids that it's important to make deez feel special and loved incase he thinks he is on his way ourt and being replaced (we know he's not) but our deez might think this, as im sure the kids will be excited to have a new puppy but as long as they remember not to forget deez, and pay him lots of love and attention xxx

Aw thanks ever so much hun...yes that was my main concern with the kids...thats why Ive said they must walk Diesel extra walkies and make more of a fuss of him.
I think the crate idea is good, I could put that into practice with the stairgate so Diesel can have a nosey and sniff and stuff.
Gucci is in a home with 5 adult Lhasas at present so I think he will be fine with Diesel, its more the other way round...
Diesel responds really well to other dogs now he goes off lead down the common...and theres a couple of Shih Tzu's we meet and he always gets into "play" position and then they start "boxing"!!! So Im sure when Gucci is older they will have great fun :D
Stewart has said I can get Gucci its up to me...obviously Stewarts mind is completely on his Dad at the moment...he has been taking comfort from Diesels snuggles this week and theyve been extra close...so Im sure Diesel will go to Stewart for reassurance more than anyone.
He will of course still have free run of the house...and Gucci wont for now...so Diesel will hopefully feel secure in that nothing has changed there.
Me and Deez also go visiting mine and Stewarts mums in the evenings, and they always have a treat or two for him, so theres that in his extended world too!!!
Im just gonna be extra vigilant, and extra careful...I know it will be fine in time, and in time Diesel and Gucci will be best of buddies, but for now I have to make sure Diesels confidence stays strong xxxxxxxxx

well i did alsmost the same with my dogs when Ebony came i brought her in and held her while Ollie & Shadow sniffed her, The difference being Ollie & Shadow have had visitors to our house (3 of Ollies Girlfriends) and also my friend brings her wini wirehaired dachsunds down sometimes so they are used to new dogs and also we have the big beardies. i let the pup out for a wee and Ollie wanted to go straight out to see Ebony, he can run much faster so i knew it would be ok as he is fine with any other dogs he just wants to clean every other dogs ears and he did this to the pup too.
Shadow is more laid back and went out to see Ebony but ran back in to his dad. i then let the beardies in Jodie ran straight past her but then did a double take went back sniffed the pup then came running back to me as if to say another one?
& Candy just looked and went to play bum in the air, but Ebony just wanted to explore.
I then put Ebony in her bed (a crate) and that was it for the night i left her in the kitchen and went into the sitting room with the others. The next morning the same but the beardies stayed in the back garden, We have the drive with fencing and gates Lhasa safe so i let Ollie & Shadow out with Ebony, i watched but tried not to interfere as i know that they will keep each other in order Ollie & Shadow are brilliant but the 3 also need to sort out the Alpha, Shadoe ran from Ebony but Ollie was more inquisitive, the pup started to follow him and play that was fine but then the pup got a bit rough and i heard Ollie growl....it was a different growl so i watched very carefully, he was very close to Ebony and she immediately stopped playing, everytime she got rough he did the same, after about 30mins they all came in and Ollie & Shadow lay down , Ebony went straight to Ollie and curled up beside him, he moaned a little and moved a bit and she stayed where she wasand its been like that till now 2 weeks later.Ollie & Shadow play together, Ebony tries to join in sometimes they ignore her and other times let her join in, when they play together She comes to us and if we play with her they come and join in.Now i often find that Ebony is curled up with Either Shadow or Ollie.
I think that in human terms when Ebony came Ollie told her off a little and said i was her first and i am the oldest so don't try to be boss i am the father here and you are just a puppy, Shadow said i will play but only when i want to not when you want to. and Ebony has fit right in with that.
As for Diezel don't jump and get the pup if Diezel growls he will be putting the pup in his place, obviously you don't want him to be too rough, but when you let them out together shout for diezel and he will come running, you pratically have to ignore the pup and only make a fuss when Diezel is out of the room,

To sum it up its a bit like having a new baby when you have another child, you don't want the oldest one to be jealous

When I got Holly I was really worried about how Roxy would be (that was why I joined the forum originally :D ) I
I did exactly like you have said you are going to do. i.e. Roxy continued to have the run of the house where Holly didnt.... Extra walks etc for Roxy and lots of cuddles and reassurance so she didnt feel pushed out. Basically everything you have already said.
I didnt leave them alone together for about 3 months I think..........and look now they are sleeping together which I can remember Kerry saying how one day I would just notice they were doing this and I thought ...........Never! :)
When Holly first came home I dont know if you remember my posts at that time but I mentioned how if she came towards any of us Roxy would give her a tap with her paw, as if to say "not too close missy they are my family"... it was like she was giving her a clip round the ear :lol: :lol: Anyway this didnt last long and as you know they are the best of friends now.

When I first brought Raven home, I put her in her cage before I let wicket meet her. He was terified of her! I watched them when they were together for the first 2 days but wicket would run scared. On the third day, we took raven up to meet chris's mum and dad and we watched the two of them out in their garden. It was neutral territory so to speak and that was the first time wicket actually took an interest in her and they started to play together. I kept a close eye on them for the first 2 weeks or so and gradually let them play for longer together, but when raven was about 14 weeks they were sleeping and playing together (mainly because we ended up between houses and it was upsetting for both of them as well as chris and I - our house move fell through at the last minute but got saved and we moved 2 weeks later). By the time raven was 16 weeks (and just as we moved into our new house) the two of them were great together! The thing with wick and rave though is that wicket is a really laid back submissive dog and he just let raven be the boss of him from day 1.

Good luck with dies and gucci but i'm sure they'll be great!

Well, I learned French mostly in school...and never used it again apart from when we went to Disneyland.....but 3 years ago Stewarts brother was killed in a car crash in France and I had to make a lot of phone calls to make arrangements and cor it was well difficult trying to hold a top-speed conversation on the phone! Very different from classroom French!!

My Abuelo never called my 3 girls by their name they were always muy guapa to him (Very pretty) its used a lot in Northern Spain to the children, my girls all had strawberry blonde hair and all our family used tolove that colour. i remember my aunty walking down the street head held high :D :D :D :D :D telling all her friends and aquaintences that her Spanish family from England had come for their holidays. We are always Spanish when we are in Spain None of the family call us English.

We introduced Connie to Bailey at my cousin's house. Bailey was there while we were on holiday. We picked Connie up on way home from airport. We never left the two of them alone for ages. Connie was shut in the kitchen and Bailey had run of house when we were out. We had Connie about 4-5months before we started leaving them alone together. Bailey wasn't impressed at the beginning but they are both the best of friends now. Bailey is very protective of Connie although Connie is now the boss.
I was very surprised to see your post re another puppy :o :o :o :o Didn't think you were going to have another. He is adorable though.

Well, here we are...Gucci has been with us for 5 days now and Diesel is still not impressed.........
Gucci runs to Diesel, and Diesel backs away...if Im down with him and reassure him he will sniff Gucci...or if Gucci's been handled by someone else he will go up and sniff him. But thats it. If Diesels eating and Gucci comes along, he lets him have the food. Same goes for toys.
I have made such a big fuss of Diesel this week, and everyone who has come to meet Gucci has made a point of stroking and fussing over Diesel first...Diesel's had extra treats and walks...I dont know what else I can do?

Aw Nancy it's still really early days yet, I'm sure Deez will get used to him, he's prob just wondering why Gucci hasn't gone home yet :lol: ! I think he's more bewildered by Gucci rather than unhappy about him being there and as time passes it will become normal life for him to have Gucci there. I know I'm not much help, I've not had 2 lhasas together but I do know how you feel because I feel sorry for Molly sometimes because she does get bossed about by Ebony (everyone said that the lhasa would be the boss) and I wonder if she would be happier if we hadn't got Ebony but then most days they are happy in each others company. You're doing all the right things and I'm sure that given a bit more time, Deez will decide that it's not so bad having Gucci around :) xxx

Aw don't beat yourself up about it Nancy, I'm sure that the doggies don't feel as bad about it as you do. I know it's hard to watch when they don't seem to be very happy and I've just remembered that when Ebony was a puppy she used to like to curl up into Molly when she was laid asleep but as soon as she did Molly would get up and walk away. She still to this day won't let Ebby lie next to her and Ebby doesn't bother trying so much now, she sits on dads knee instead and goes to sleep :D xxx

Bailey wasn't impressed by Connie either at first. In fact he would sometimes shake her quite roughly. Was a while before we left them alone together. They're now the best of friends. Wherever one is the other isn't far behind :) :)
It'll take time but persevere. Give Diesel his usual attention and cuddles and he'll soon see Gucci's not a threat but something good. Once Gucci's a bit older he'll love having a playmate. Will be worth it in the end. Soon you'll be wondering why you worried so much.xxx

This is what Wicket was like with Raven until we took them somewhere neutral. If you know someone who doesn't have a dog that you rarely visit, ask them if you can bring them round and let them down together. Raven just went investigating in the new house and Wicket finally plucked up the courage to go see what she was doing. Then they started to play (about 5 mins later) and within about 10 mins of that, Raven had Wicket pinned on the ground! They've been buddies ever since. They weren't buddy buddies straight away. They would play then wicket would jump on the couch out of raven's reach for a bit. I have a great set of photos of wicket on the couch sleeping and raven tries to cuddle in. She slowly edges closer, then at the last minute, wicket runs away. If I find them, I'll post them!

Don't worry about dies and gucci. It'll sort itself out. At least diesel isn't aggresive towards him so that's a good sign.

Thanks for the advice...I have just spent an hour at my Mums with them both...and my uncle held Gucci for a cuddle at first, while Mum fussed over Diesel...and as soon as Gucci went down on the floor Diesel went over to sniff him! :D
Gucci has also approached Diesel and sniffed him, and Diesel didnt run off.
Hoping this is a way forward........
On another note...Gucci escaped from his nursery last night and ate the remnants of Diesels dinner...(Diesel has Caesar...Gucci is on Bakers dried puppy food)...and this morning his "business" was black and ... sticky shall we say...so I had to wash him all off. Yeuch! Will keep a closer eye on the food bowls..... :D

Try and remember the posts on the old forum from when I got Holly ..............Roxy really was not impressed , she used to push Holly away from everything especially us :D And when Roxy was lying down Holly would try desperately to snuggle in beside her but Roxy would always get up and move away. I thind it was a month before I felt that they were ok with one another and now they sleep in the same bed every night .
Its like everyone has said before you know it Deez will have forgot Gucci never used to be there, and they will be the best of pals. ;)

Roxy sounds just like Diesel there. He has been a bit better today I think. Gucci seems to just want to be near Diesel, but probably a bit too close...which I think is freaking Diesel out. But Diesel isnt being horrible in any way, I mean theres no aggression or nastiness. I will just keep doing what Im doin then...

Things have continued to be a bit better today...Diesel is allowing Gucci to come close...Gucci is not being so "full on" with Diesel..it all seems more settled tonight xx

Uncle Jimmy has just been round, and again both of them came running to investigate the visitor...and Diesel was standing really close to Gucci without a problem...and a bit later on Diesel was in his bed, which is near his food bowl...and Gucci was pinching scraps from Diesels bowl...but rather than brazenly standing there, he was taking little bits in his mouth, and then running out into the kitchen to eat it!!! He was like a little squirrel!!! :D All the while, Diesel looked like a Wimbledon spectator with his head going back and forth watching what Gucci was doing!!! :D :lol: :lol:

:lol: :lol: Ebony does this, she gets a mouthful of food and then runs off into anther room, spits it out on the floor and then eats it, she tires me out just watching her! I'm so pleased that Diesel seems more settled having Gucci around and I love the pic of them with Julie! :D xxx

Well, just sitting here thinking......
I have had Gucci for 12 days now.....and in that time not only has he grown, he has also learned.....
...how to play nicely with Diesel - hoorah!!!
...how to get up and down the back doorstep
...how to cry when I leave him (!)
...how to put himself to bed when he is tired
...how to locate Diesels food bowl at the speed of light
...how to hold his bladder through the night
...how to sleep through the night
...how to give me kisses when I get in from work
...and of course, how to be cuter by the day!!!

Oh and to add to my above list......
Gucci has got two back teeth coming through today...he has had his first bath...and tried getting milk from Diesel!!!!!!!!!!! Aw bless!!!
