View Full Version : Lets not forget our Lhasa's extended family

Hi everyone

Just a thought but I think it would be great to have this section because most of us on here have extended 'families' who live with our Lhasas and although this is a Lhasa Apso Forum, it would be good to include them. Some of you have cats, other breeds, birds (maybe), Tortoises, Rabbits and Turtles - so I just feel as though they should not be left out. We all know that this is a Lhasa Apso forum through and through, but I dont think we ought to forget our other friends. Hope you enjoy this topic folks. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I've got a budgie called Faddy after James McFadden in honour of the goal he scored against france (and the fact he used to play for motherwell) but we think he's a girl! I would stick a photo on but I've only got photos of him with chris in them and he'll go mental if he finds out his pic is online!

I've also got 2 10 week old dumbo rats called Zunder and Fury. They are the most beautiful wee things you can imagine. They are banded husky dumbo rats, but the band will fade and when they are about 6 months they will be (almost) completely white. They may have a hint of silver left on their backs. When I finish my PhD next year, folk are threatning to call me dr doolittle. I just love all my animals!

Eeeeeeek!! Hope work went OK? My work was MANIC today and went by so quickly cos we were sooooooo busy!!! Quote of the day from a four year old, who I asked "Why do people go to church?"
"Well, they go there to get married and the mum has a baby and the dad has enough of her so he just goes away and the mum keeps the baby and takes the baby to the church and God loves the baby instead"
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D I had to write this all down as part of an assessment and try not to laugh!!!

I will have to get some pictures of Sandy the hedgehog. I have some old ones when she was little, she is now a big girl. She has nice white and sandy color quills. She is a sweat heart. I can now pick her up without her huffing and puffing at me. The dogs are even getting use to her.

Well here are some of my extended family Shelly our GSD that we had for 6 years sadly she had to be PTS after she had a fit. One of Shelly and her boyfriend Flloyd who stayed with us for a few months when his family toured Europe, Keaton our grandsons favorite place when he was only 4 years old, he used to go in the cage and shout for the dogs then shut the cage with them and him inside, and Jodie our beardie she's 6 now will have to find one of Candy our other beardie.

awww pauline i loves yer pooches, ive a soft spot for the gsd as this is my grandads breed of choice, he had them all his life, there have been so many i couldnt name them all but the very last one (gyp) stays strong in my memories, he was a stunner, and wouldve givin the show dogs of today a run for there money, no need for double handling with him, he was a cracker (biased i know, but fitted the breed standard to a tee) wish he was still here as id have gladly shown him with pride xxx

Are you ready for my extended family? I have a zoo!!!

This is Buggy, she's a Bosten Terrier, She will be 16 years old July 17th. I got her from a vet I used to work for. She had mange really bad. She was all pink with no hair and the pet shop sent her to us for treatment, we fised the mange and she came home with me instead of going back to the pet shop.

This is Apolo, as most of you know, he is a Coton de Tulear. He just turned 1 year old in March. I rescued Apolo from a Puppy Mill truck. He had some problems with his leg bone development due to being stuck in a cage for his first 1/2 year of life.

This is Zoey, she is a Maltese. She just turned 2 years old back in April. She was bought from a local breeder for my daughter's high school graduation present. My daughter went away to college and Zoey became mine.

This is my daughter's dog Jaxson, a Maltese. He will be three years old in August. He was bought at a pet shop by my daughters father for her graduation present. She took Jaxson with her away to college. This is him sleeping with his mommy. A very rare moment. He sleeps with me most of the time.

When we changed over to the purple version of this forum my pictures did not display because you can only post 4 per frame so here is the continuation of my extended family...

This is Egypt, she is about 2 years old. This was her third litter of kittens. She was pregnant when I rescued her. She lived outside of my friends house who fed her, but they were moving and couldn't take the cat so I rescued her. She had her kittens, I found great homes for them and I had her spayed right away. She is now very happy in Anj's Zoo

This is Mariah who is 8 years old and Jewels who is 9. Mariah was rescued from a construction site. I was driving through and she hopped on the hood of my car at a stop sign. I guess she was desperate. And My Jewels, from the time he was a small kitten until he was full grown, about 8 months old, he lived behind a salon I worked. I would sit outside every day talking to him and feeding him. Slowly over time I would move the food closer and closer to me till one day he was eating right next to me. Eventually I was able to pet him and I brought a cage, sat it upright and grabbed him by the back of the neck and swooped him in the cage. Brought him to the vet, got vaccines & such, brought him home and he's been domesticated ever since. He's still the baddest ass of all the cats. You stay out of his way. Austin is his only friend. This photo is unusual, he doesn't like Mariah at all. He must have been in a good mood that day to allow Mariah to lay next to his Royalship.
http://216.77.188.54/coDataImages/p/Groups/333/333077/folders/290475/2325092DSC02592.jpg

And this is Jackie (BlackJack) She is 13 years old. She was Wayne's cat before we got married. When he moved out she stayed. Can you see the perfect black heart spot on her side?

My mother an father have rats for pets. They live in open cages on the back patio and can run away at any time but they stay where they feel safe. They really are cool pets believe it or not. The only problem is they don't live long at all.

Cool pictures.

It's quite funny really. They say parrots only mimic but Chase comes out with things in context. When Connie and Bailey start growling and playing, Chase says 'eh eh. enough' or tells them to 'shurrup' if they bark a lot. Chase calls them by name, tells them to 'sit' 'goodboy/girl'. If the phone rings he also yells 'Hannah'. The phone is usually for her. lol.
If I'm doing housework he'll ask 'where's Hannah?' What you doin?' amongst other things. I, of coure answer him and then think to myself. Wait a minute, I'm having a conversation with a BIRD!!!!!!!
He's lots of fun tho. M xxx
