Took Honey my eldest LA and Asha my youngest to the groomers on Thursday that we have used for over 20yrs, to be washed and clipped, and when I picked them up on the afternoon it first cost me £25 each for a wash and/or clip so total of £50, but then to top it all off the woman had shaved Honey for me coz she was a bit matted (my fault I know) but in the process of doing her face, she had what they said 'nicked' her face with the clippers.

So when I picked her up I took her straight up the vets to get it checked as my hubby could see her cheek muscle and that wasn't good. When I finally got to see the vet her shaved the rest of the fur off that was blocking his full view of the wound and it was a half moon shaped 'nick' hmmmm more like her cheek was nearly shaved off - I was so angry!

Anyway, £80 later my hubby went mad and took the invoice up to the groomers and demanded they pay the bill, as yet we're still waiting for the money as the boss weren't there yesterday and the girl wasn't able to just hand over the money - how bad was this though?

Still, after 20yrs this was only the 2nd time they have cut my dogs skin and the 1st time was onlt a 'nick' on the elbow and stuff, so can't complain too much.

Pics to follow....

Oh my God that is the most shocking thing Ive seen in a long time...that is absolutely horrific. I cannot believe this has happened. Poor thing. You owe it to other dogs to report her and made this known...friend or not, that should NOT happen. Oh I cant believe it. Poor little love xxxxxxxxx Give hugs from auntie Nancy please xxxxxxxxx

Honey had 8 stitches.
Amazingly enough she's having no pain, and she's never complained once, even when it wasn't stitched she'd let me, hubby and the vet all look and mess with it with no growling or wimpering, an absolute angel and she's just got on with it. Bless her!

I must admit though she's being kept away from the other dogs while we're at home and getting extra cuddles so really she's laughing isn't she hehe. Other than that she's running around playing with one of our cats and play fighting so doesn't seem to be bothering her.

We have been going to the groomers for over 20years and I know the owners of the shop all my life because they were my parents friends but I will just not go up anymore and I've decided to find a 'wash at home' service. Although I can do it all myself but time is against me and its just so convenient to get someone else to do it at the moment, as I have so much on working part time and trying to get my business up and running, once I'm working for myself at home more then I can make more time for them I hope hehehe, still they will not be going back there again.

What really p@@ses me off is when I took her to the vets to get checked there's a nurse there that used to do grooming and she said it was the worse cut she's ever seen  so maybe the girls he employs are not experienced enough, I don't know, I never see them they are always in the back :?

Oh well - all said and done she's fine - thanks for your concerns and messages .... and hugs given Nancy :D

Its difficult when its people you know so well. But maybe is there a governing body or association for groomers? I think so. You could contact them? Its all fair enough that the man runs the shop, but he should take greater care of who he employs. If a human went for a haircut and came out with a cut, the people would be charged with assault? It is obvious youre in a tricky situation hun, but I hope you do decide to take action. As for dear little Honey being so good about it all...that had me welling up. What a little sweetheart. Could you hug her again for me please??? :D

Yes, I was worrying about that too...it may be an idea to find him a groomer who comes to your home or vice versa, so you can be there when its being done, just to add reassurance xxxxxxxxxx

Sorry Ive only just seen this and got a huge shock! This looks nasty and as Pamela has said............a nick!!!! This is not a nick - it's more like someone dug in with some secateurs!!!!    Good god, if this was any of my three, believe me, I dread to think what I would do. It is a very difficult situation when the family have known the owner for years but you must somehow ask for a refund for the vets bill and at the same time ask the owner to check out the groomer in question - as in her capability and how qualified she really is!!! I know if it was my business, I would'nt want a groomer under qualified and insensitive working for me xxxxxxxxx

Hi,

Just a quick update on honey and her 'wound'....

She's doing really wel and we resisted putting her a lampshade on her and luckily she's not scratched at them at all so hopefully she won't need it at all.

The wound is nice and clean and certainly not proving painful to Honey being as she lets me check her stitches eveyday with precision hehe :)

Lyndon (hubby) went up to the groomers today as I feel a bit awkward, silly really but I've known him for so long and being as the owner is my dads age I feel Im disrespecting him even though its his employee thats done the cut and not him I just feel awkward...

Anyway, Lyndon went up and showed him a picture of Honey and gave him the invoice and paid Lyndon for what we paid out, so alls well now.

So glad to read that she is recovering, poor mite. I know what you mean about feeling awkward though, and in turn he has shown respect for you by paying the bill...I hope he shows respect for animals too and fires his employee. Give Honey a hug from me xxx

This has just reminded me actually............the other day I received a 'note' from one of the ex-groomers (the last one to be exact) stating that she had not heard from me in a long while and wondered if I still had my Lhasas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, yes I have as you all know! Why would she ask this of me when she knew how besotted I was about my three? I did wonder if I should reply but if I had I would not have been 'nice' so I thought it best just to throw it away............after all, where would it have got me? Nowhere! Cheek of it............I had thought that maybe her business was not going too well...........Mmmmmm! xxxxxxxxxx

That's exactly why she would've asked!!! She'll be struggling and the money from doing your 3 lhasas would really come in handy, I bet!
