lhasa colours

can someone let me know the colours of Lhasas I know of white & black ones as maggie is black but what is the name for the cream ones, pale brown etc etc. E.G my horse is a mouse dun but she's grey!!! :roll: I don't want to sound thick when I go for my next baby as for a creamy one lol xx

Hi Bigmac,

You might want to look in the Kennel Club section under the breed stand,
it does mention colours in there.

The main colours that are known are
Black,
Black & white,
Black & Tan
Gold,
Gold & white,
Grey,
Grey & White.

There are other varieties of colours,
but some of the colour names are recognised some are not.

Cream is gold.
Light Gold or cream gold
Red is gold.
Red or Red Gold
Honey is gold
Light gold, Honey gold.
Slate is grey or Grey Silver.
Brindle

Genetics can be quite a heavy subject to grasp.

I know this site very well. I have tried very hard to type my dogs for the color genes.

I have nice samples of live and blue puppies. I have a nice sample of what a black dog that has the gray gene looks like. I believe that my Bailey a black/tan has the gray gene as her tan turned muddy gray.

We were trying to get sample of the different color dogs on the last site. Maybe we could try again. I will post pictures of the ones I have for sure.

Lia's Girls are
Honey she is a gold.
Now Lexi is a gold and white parti-colour.

Although they are both very light gold in colour, nearly cream.

I see nothing that says dark brown or chocolate like Flower. I've yet to see another one with her coloring except her brother. Yet the puppy mill had her labled as a purebread Lhasa. Hmmm!!!

She has got THE MOST beautiful colouring, I would say chocolate brown...or maybe shes a red/black mix? She really is one of a kind...and I have not seen another like her either! :D

Oh yeah. I remember her saying something about live Lhasa's. Bridget, have you seen liver Lhasa's before like Flower?
