View Full Version : Do you carry your Lhasa's?

Do you pick up or carry your Lhasa's? How are they when they get older? The Maltese loved to be carried around but Zoey is 6 lbs. and Jaxson is 8.5 lbs. so they are easy, Flower already weighs 12 lbs.. She doesn't seem to like being carried around so much anymore. Apolo hates to be picked up and I think it's because of his long body. I wonder if Flower is going to be the same. She does lay in my lap allot.

Holly loves to be carried , she just flops in your arms and I think she would stay there all day if you let her. :D
Roxy is not so keen.........far to lively to be carried about ;)

I don't really carry my lhasas that much. Raven loves it though and she'd stay in your arms all day if you let her, but I only really carry her if she's being a pain and I'm trying to move her somewhere (like upstairs to get groomed). Wicket doesn't like to be carried, but he likes to be picked up and he sits on your hip like a kid would, facing the world with one paw either side of your neck (if I get a photo I'll post it coz I can't explain it well). As soon as you start moving when you're holding him he squirms to get down.

Oooh Coco loves to be carried around. She keeps really still and doesn't struggle; in fact, I hold her in my owns and plop her on my lap just like a baby ;)

Coco is full grown at 12 pounds already. I guess I'm very protective of her - I let her walk on her own only when it's inside our house or on ground that is safe from insects and sharp stuff ...

I only carry Diesel when needs must ...like at the car boot sale the other day it got a bit crowded and two people trod on him :o :( He likes to be carried at the door if I have visitors so he can be at eye level for maximum exposure!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D I used to pick him up when we were out walking and approaching growly dogs, but I learnt that thats actually giving Diesel the signal there is something to be afraid of, and I was escalating the situation, so I dont any more!!! Diesel is very fussy and likes things on his own terms ... even sitting for a cuddle...it has to be when he wants it and not when we want it!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Hee hee hee what a diva!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

Most of mine like to walk. I have to carry Noggy, she does not like to walk on a lead and is getting to big now to carry. They all love to sit on my lap. I often have 4 of the girls fighting for space in the evening. The boys would rather just sit next to me for a pet. Indy will sometimes climb right up with the girls but that is not all the time.

Little Oscar, Diesels little blind friend, also has arthritis and a heart condition, and his owners have a pram for him. Its actually a shopping trolley, (the push-along ones ladies use) with the front cut half way down, and a cushion and blanket and toys in the bottom, so he isnt totally shut in...I thought that was a fab invention!

That's another thing, they all want to be with me at all times. No matter what room I am in, even the bathroom unless they think they are going to get a bath, then I find them under the bed or hiding somwhere.

I've seen those. They are like a baby carriage. I have a travel bag that only fits for Zoey. I've taken her to places you don't normally bring dogs to in her bag. No one is the wiser.

Ah Ha i did post long time ago, i have a proper dog stroller i bought for my lovely Daisy when she first diagnosed with ther heart condition, and she couldn't walk for more than 10 - 15 mins, but she hated it,(i put her in it once when i got it and no way would she go in it!!) i kept it to give to another dog who might need it free of charge. This would suit someone who walks everywhere as this isn't folded down easily, for eg. to put in a car it really takes some time, so is better left up and ready, i have posted this to everyone who is reading this, instead of just p.m.ing Nancy, just incase this isn't suitable for Nancy's friend.. but please i would love to give this for free to a dog that needs it i have asked at my vets and everwhere if someone could use it for the purpose that i bought it for, a dog with an illness or old age and maybe their owner who finds it hard getting around, so please any takers??? Obv. would like to offer it first to Nancy's friend if it could help., i would even pay the postage and packing, would just like to know some little dog had good use of it.xx(i couldn't bear to throw it away or sell it on just really want to help a dog like my lovely Daisx)

Ahh Oscar is entirely welcome... i have p.m.'d (oh hark at me all technical!!!) Nancy tonight, i couldn't get in the door of the local post office/chemist today., (what a joke this is, closing all the post offices, always ques out of the door, another forum subject i think!!) i didn't have time tonight., but tommorrow not on such a tight time frame so will def do it then.. But said to Nancy, it's funny but when Daisy was first diagnosed with her condition i panic bought, (i am a bit of an essex girl like my designer things and like the same too for Daisy and now Lulu, diamonte collars and leads etc., but had gone on a friends computer and saw the first dog stroller i had seen, the cause overrode, looking for a lovely pink/leopard print stroller!!!! so ended up with a blue lemon and light blue stripped one., which as i said Daisy hated passionately!., but maybe just maybe in the grand scale of life this was always destined for Oscar?? who knows, just so glad finally it will have the use intended for it, to help... I know someone locally who has a beautifull dog stroller with a lovely canopy with hanging beads,........ for an able bodied pug!! who i might add looks completely p***** off in it!!! she looks longingly at the dogs running around she is only bout 2! but hey this IS essex!!! xx

But, on a serious note, how very very kind of Yvonne to donate this lovely gift to such a lovely little dog. I know its gonna be so well used, and Oscar bless his heart is gonna be so happy in it too. Yvonne is not accepting any money neither for the pram nor for the postage and packaging costs, despite my pleas. She is an absolutely kind hearted lady who deserves more than she gets. Thank you so much Yvonne. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
